Pawn's Gambit

Press ENTER to toggle King behavior: The king will either follow you the player or move randomly.

WASD or Arrow Keys to move, movement type depends on the piece you are playing as.

Press 'z' to restart if you get checkmated.

Press SHIFT once you have unlocked all the pieces to change what piece you are playing as and promote/demote anywhere on the board.

Protect the white king while trying to mate the black king. P.S. If you reach the enemy's back rank you can promote your piece!

This game is my experiment in completely overhauling the movement physics of GB Studio's Top-Down 2D game type. Consequently it is really buggy and I am still working out making the AI logic for all the pieces. So far the White King and Black Pawns work as intended.

Edit: If you get stuck and the piece bugs out, sorry but you have to restart. The queen is really buggy for some reason because of the way GB Studio event handling works, but if you can reach the back rank with it and find yourself in the final level with the king you can press SHIFT to swap the piece you are playing as.
